More About Ladybird

O’Laughlin Hospitality

Cheyne and Nikki O’Laughin are no strangers to the restaurant industry. The couple moved to Terre Haute in 2013 to purchase the legendary Charlie’s Pub & Grub; keeping the business in the O’Laughlin family.

Partnering with local businessman Greg Gibson, the couple revitalized The Terminal, re-opening the bar/restaurant in 2023. What was once a downtown bar, the location sat empty for years until the group of entrepreneurs turned their vision into reality.

Operating three successful restaurants isn’t easy. Both Cheyne and Nikki bring experience from different fields, plus a passion for business and the community. Nikki has a background in HR and is the eye behind the interior design of both The Terminal and Ladybird. Cheyne leads with experience in warehouse management to keep the back of house organized and on time.

When the couple isn’t working, they’re happiest spending time with their kids and traveling the world.

Our Location’s History

Ladybird is located inside the historic Hulman Building at 900 Wabash Ave. Not only are we in good company, housed in the same building as change makers in the community including the Terre Haute Chamber of Commerce and Terre Haute Economic Development Corporation, but the building is full of local history.

Built in 1892, the building was created for the rapidly growing Hulman & Company. The seven-story Romanesque Revival structure has been a staple of downtown Terre Haute for over 130 years.

The Hulman family and its employees started manufacturing “clabber” baking powder in Terre Haute in the 1890s. For decades the building was home to Hulman & Company operations, the Clabber Girl Museum and Bake Shop.

In May of 2019, the family sold its Clabber Girl operations to B&G Foods Inc., a New Jersey-based maker and distributor of a broad range of food products. The building itself was purchased by local company, Gibson Development.

Recently rehabilitated and rebranded as "The Hub," the building now hosts numerous tenants, including us! Ladybird occupies the former “Clabber Girl Bake Shop”.
